Still Had All These Goes Drafting – #3
We’re doing M10 again because drafting Zendikar is like drinking turpentine.

Ok, I probably should have gone Baneslayer, relevant card, relevant card, either Wind Drake and Rod of Ruin or Gravedigger and either Rod of Ruin or Sign in Blood. I got greedy, careless, and overly excited about winning the M10 Mythic Lottery. Giving up the first three picks of the draft (white was totally cut off) puts this draft at a distinct disadvantage, even if my wallet is at a distinct advantage.

The Harm’s Way pick was stupid and I didn’t pick up that green was wide open until late in this pack. I might actually have a decent deck at this point if I had jumped into the green earlier. But I didn’t, so I don’t.

M10 Draft 1/6/10

This draft wasn’t good. It was profitable, sure, but it could have been both profitable and good if I had been less giddy about windmilling Baneslayer. This is definitely a lessons learned draft – I could have had a quality black/green deck splashing for Fireball and Shivan Dragon with solid guys up and down the curve and 40+ tickets in the sideboard. Instead the card quality in my deck was poor and the removal lacking, and I got smoked by a focused mono black deck in round one with removal for days and two Diabolic Tutors to go find it.
Lesson to learn – don’t lose focus on the task at hand just because of an unexpected positive moment as part of the task. Just because you have a safety net doesn’t mean you can use that net as an excuse to do poorly.

Watching you skillfully open a Baneslayer and then raredraft duals is not worth my time as a reader.

If you think that article’s awesome, just wait ’till we go premium!
Kidding. If one draft where I went on uptilt is enough to keep you away, then I can’t do anything to keep you here.

It’s not that… I just think you should pick and choose what you post. The goal here is communication, either to show us readers how to draft better or so that we can give you feedback on how to draft better. You know just as well as I do how to pick the gold symbol.
You don’t have to post everything you record.
